Shawn Gunder is an experienced family lawyer, criminal attorney and trial advocate. Aside from being a hard hitting lawyer, Mr. Gunder brings a tremendous amount of life experiences to the table when he represents a client. A former U.S. Army Drill Sergeant, a retired Army Officer and a Licensed Physician's Assistant (PA), Mr. Gunder has the solid background, integrity, judgment and tenacity to represent you in your family law case.
His professional life began in the military. Through a 20 year career he was deployed all over the world including Germany, Korea, Belize, and Kuwait. The military provided him the means to become a Physician Assistant, culminating in his final assignment as the Deputy Division Surgeon for the 2nd Infantry Division in Korea, after which he retired from active duty.
In addition to being a lawyer, Mr. Gunder has an extensive medical background. He established an emergency medicine residency for Physician Assistants at MCG. In addition he was faculty in the Emergency Department, and Instructor in the PA School and the initial director of the PA ER residency He then worked for a neurosurgeon here in Augusta. Augusta. He was employed by the Medical College of Georgia both as a practitioner in the Emergency Department and as an instructor in the Physician Assistant program.
His wife is a professor in the School of Allied Health at the Medical College of Georgia, and they are active in their church.
